Our next concert in the 2013-2014 series comes to us from the Queen of the World Roman Catholic parish in St. Marys, PA. AT 2 PM on December 15th the 35-voice choir under the direction of Steven Toney will present sacred Advent and Christmas music; the organ will be featured in solo pieces, also. Former choir members of Mr. Toney’s from Murrysville, PA will be joining the group for a “reunion concert” here in Punxsutawney, so it should be a wonderful afternoon of music! Please mark your calendars and plan to attend. Refreshments will follow in the social hall. The next event in our concert series is on Sunday, February 9, 2014 at 3 PM when the Qualitas brass quintet returns for a program of brass and organ music with organist Laurie Glover Spence. Let’s all pray for good weather that weekend! All of the events in this year’s concert series are being offered at no charge to the public, with an offering accepted to help defray the expenses of each event. Unfortunately, these offerings fall far short of the actual expenses. Please consider being a donor or a sponsor for the concert series, so that we can continue to offer these musical gifts to our community. A specific need that we have involves transportation costs for the Allegheny College Choir, which is coming on April 6, 2014. Talk to anyone on the concert series for more details. Also, remember the Sheetz coupon books that are sold to benefit the concert series. They make wonderful Christmas gifts, and can be used at any Sheetz store. They will only be available through December, so get yours soon! |
