LYRA, formerly known as Neva, is a choir community comprised of professional singers and artists who are mostly graduates of the St. Petersburg Conservatory and perform in various professional choirs, theatres, and opera houses throughout St. Petersburg, Russia. There are about 25 singers in the community from which small groups of four to six tour the world each year. The group relies upon donations to pay their way for their tours. Through their performances, LYRA artists introduce a sampling of the enormous musical heritage of the Russian Orthodox Church, as well as traditions of Russian folk music to all people taking an interest in Russia, its history and its culture.

This event is free to the public as the second concert in the 2014-2015 First English Concert Series Ministry concert season.  A reception coordinated by Chef Martha Jo Rupert of the IUP Academy of Culinary Arts will follow the program in the church social hall.  Contributions to the church for the concert ministry will be accepted and appreciated.  Please come to hear this wonderful choir as part of our 2014-2015 concert series year!
