On Sunday, June 7 at 3:00
p.m., First English will host the last concert in its 2014-2015 concert series. At
this concert, Nina plans to introduce folks to the mountain dulcimer, explain
and exhibit a bit of dulcimer history, and play an assorted variety of styles
on the instrument. The Appalachian
dulcimer (also known as mountain or lap dulcimer) is a stringed instrument, a
member of the zither family, and originated in early-mid 1800’s in the
Appalachian Mountains. There will be a
reception with light refreshments to follow hosted by Chef Rupert and students
of the IUP Culinary School in Punxsutawney. The concert is free and open
to the public; a freewill offering will be taken that day. Please join us
for this unique concert! |
